We are pleased to confirm that our next series of Boating for Beginners theory sessions start on Thursday 4th April at 7pm at the Yacht Club on the Tongue in the centre of the harbour.

The sessions are held in the clubhouse – over four evenings from 7pm – 9:30 and are an informal programme around a variety of boating subjects. It’s very relaxed and we have a break for coffee. You don’t need to bring anything with you and the sessions also provide an opportunity to meet some of our RYA instructors. The course offers some background knowledge and an excellent introduction to boating.

The fee is £70 and includes Membership of the Club for 2024. The course is classroom based, but will include a taster session on the water.

Topics include:

1) Types of boats

2) Points of sail

3) Weather

4) Anchoring and mooring

5) Tides and currents

6) Nautical charts

7) VHF protocols

8) Lifejackets

9) Safety equipment
